A refreshing and divine scarlet-hued Pomegranate Mojito that’s quick and easy! Can be served as a Cocktail or a Mocktail!
Are you a fan of Sherlock Holmes? Not the Benedict Cumberbatch-starrer, Sherlock, but the stories by Arthur Conan Doyle? As a kid, I was nuts about mystery novels. I started with The Famous Five, The Secret Seven, The Five Find-outers and the whole Enid Blyton gang.
Then I moved on simultaneously to Sherlock Holmes, Nancy Drew and The Hardy Boys. This was all before I discovered Agatha Christie, of course, who will always be my favorite and my best, as the munchkin says
Back to Holmes, I have some favorites: among the short stories (and I’ve read all of them) ‘The Speckled Band’. I still remember the first time I read it. I was about 10 or 11 and it was part of a Holmes collection I had received for my birthday.
The buildup of suspense is so disconcerting in this story that I think I was shivering half way through it. If you haven’t read it and if you had to read one Sherlock Holmes story, I urge you, make it this one! You won’t be disappointed, I promise!
And then the Holmes novels. Conan Doyle wrote 4 in all and the clear winner for me is ‘The Hound of Baskervilles’. Haunting, racy, riveting, it has all the elements of a great mystery novel and a very satisfying ending. I can highly recommend it.
And what has Holmes to do with this delectable looking concoction, you may ask? Nothing, except that the first Holmes story was ‘A Study in Scarlet’ and my mind went straight to that phrase when I was making this drink 😀
I am putting myself into the mood for warm weather by making this brilliant, scarlet-hued Pomegranate Mojito. Doesn’t it look fabulous? Such a gorgeous color and it is all natural! And so very delicious and refreshing!
The sweetness of the pomegranate, the freshness of the mint and lemon and the buzz from the rum makes it a lovely, heady drink! If you are making it for kids or want to leave out the rum, go right ahead. It is still absolutely divine without the alcohol.
The munchkin loved it and guzzled down 2 glasses of the alcohol-free version. I guess the color makes it quite attractive to kids and when it is all fruit-based, I’m happy to let her enjoy! So much better than cola! Btw, if you want an easy method to peel pomegranates without making a mess, check out my post here.
